Brose Bamberg – Barça Lassa: Unwelcome defeat (84-81)

Sito Alonso's side lost in Nuremberg in a game which they had begun strongly but were eventually overhauled by the Germans

Barça Lassa lost to Brose Bamberg on the seventh day of the Euroleague (84-81). The Blaugrana, who started the game very strongly ending the first period 26 points ahead (12-38), saw their German opponents dig deep and eventually move decisively into the lead towards the end of the game.

Bright start

It was a spectacular beginning for Sito Alonso’s team with Sanders, Hanga, Moerman and Seraphin especially effective. Consistent offensive play ensured that Brose Bamberg couldn’t find their rhythm at all in the opening period.

However, Andrea Trinchieri’s side soon came back into the match thanks to Taylor, Mitrovic and Rubit. Though the turnaround was still far from complete by the break, the Germans had wiped 15 points from the deficit and trailed 37-49 at the end of the second quarter.

German comeback

Moerman and Hanga’s accuracy with the three-pointers, and the efficiency in the free throws of Sanders and Seraphin, helped Barça to hold the advantage. That was until Taylor, Hickman and Wright sank some triples of their own and began to put pressure on the visitors. Lifted by a boisterous crowd, Brose Bamberg completed the unlikeliest of comebacks late on to hand Barça an unwelcome defeat.
