Victory for Croatia and Greece, defeat for Spain in EuroBasket 2015

Spain and Pau Ribas go down 105-98 against Italia but Tomic's Croatia win 73-55 against FYR Macedonia

Two of the four blaugranes currently participating in the EuroBasket 2015 tournament have come away with wins in the third round of games in the continent’s basketball championship. Spain lost 105-98 against Italy in a hard fought encounter, Croatia beat FYR Macedonia 73-55 and Greece overcame Georgia 79-68 in a game in which blaugrana Stratos Perperoglou did not feature.

The Spanish national side lost their second game in the tournament, going down to an inspired Italian side who claimed victory in the final few minutes. FC Barcelona Lassa’s new signing Pau Ribas was once again in the side, playing 23 minutes and scoring 8 points. Spain’s next game is on Wednesday against Iceland.

After losing against Greece in the second game, Ante Tomic’s Croatia reacquainted themselves with victory by beating FYR Macedonia. The Barça centre scored 10 points and claimed 9 rebounds, consolidating his position as one of the most consistent performers so far in the tournament. The Balkans are next in action on Wednesday against Holland.

Barça’s Perperoglou was not needed for Greece’s win over Georgia which keeps them in top spot in Group C after three wins out of three. Their next challenge comes on Wednesday against third placed Slovenia.
