Barça Lassa went down to a 75-63 defeat on Sunday to Valencia Basket in round 31 of matches in the Endesa League. The home side were more than a match for Xavi Pascual’s team and were able to manage the lead they earned for themselves in the early part of the encounter. San Emeterio (13 points) and Doellman (14 points) were the top scorers in a game in which the blaugranes rallied in the final quarter but finally were unable to match a clinical Valencia team.

Barça coach Xavi Pascual was without captain Juan Carlos Navarro due to a muscle problem but the blaugranes began brightly in a tight first quarter. After 10 minutes the home side had a 19-17 lead and in the second quarter they began to extend that lead, stretching it out to 29-19 before Barça reeled them back in a little to make it 39-31 at half time.

In the second half Valencia’s scoring dropped slightly and that allowed Pascual’s team an opportunity as they brought the home side’s back down to four points at 51-47. However, Sam Emeterio resurfaced in the fourth quarter to hand the initiative back to the home side.

In the final minutes Valencia extended their advantage to close the game out and the win now leaves them just a victory behind league leaders Barça Lassa with three games to go in the regular season.
