Olaseni Abdul-Jelili Lawal, known in the basketball world as Shane Lawal, will wear the Barça shirt for the next two seasons. The 28 year old Nigerian centre comes to Barcelona after winning all there is to win in Italy with Dinamo Sassari; the league, the Super Cup and the Cup.
Lawal ended last season with a 9.5 rebounds per match from a total of 47 matches. Many of those rebounds were offensive ones – in 10 games in the Euroleague initial phase, he was the top offensive rebounder in the competition with 4.3 per game and third in total rebound with 7.3 per match. His best performance in Europe came away at Turkish side Efes with 15 redbounds. Domestically, in the league his best figure was 21 in the Play off final.
Lawal will be an important player on the inside for Xavi Pascual and great back up for first choice centre Ante Tomic.
