Pau Ribas and Spain lose opening match to Serbia

Eurobasket 2015 got under way today with mixed fortunes for the FC Barcelona Lassa players. While the Czech Republic and Greece won their opening fixtures, Spain were defeated by Serbia.

Tomas Satoransky and the Czech national team comfortably overcame Estonia (80-57). The Barça guard started the game and totalled 25 minutes, scoring 7 points and providing 3 assists, while leading his team in rebounds, with 7. The second game for the Czechs, in Group D being played in Riga, Latvia, pits them against Ukraine on Sunday at 9.30pm CET.

In Group C, Stratos Perperoglou and Greece defeated Macedonia by eight points (65-85). The new FC Barcelona Lassa small forward was on court for five minutes. Greece return to action on Sunday at 9.00pm CET against the host nation of the group, Croatia, featuring Ante Tomic, who played neighbours Slovenia in their opening game.

Pau Ribas, another of the new faces at the Palau Blaugrana this season, was in the Spain side that lost their opening fixture to Serbia (70-80). The Catalan played for 24 minutes of the game in Berlin, scoring 11 points and providing three assists. Next up for Spain is Turkey on Sunday at 9.00pm CET.
