Moussa Diagne joins Barça Lassa basketball team

The 22 year old centre from Senegal arrives after three years at Fuenlabrada, where he averaged 4.3 points and 4 rebounds last season

Cheick Moussa Diagne will play for Barça Lassa for the next three seasons. Born in Guediawaye, Senegal, 22 years ago, he is 2.11 m tall and arrives in Barcelona after five years in Spain. He spent two years as a junior at Baloncesto Torrejón from 2011 and then one in the LEB Plata for Àvila (2013/14), the same season he made the move to the ACB and Fuenlabrada, where he has spent the last two seasons.

Second Senegalese

Moussa Diagne is the second player from his country to play under Xavi Pascual, following on from Boniface Ndong, who was at Barça from 2009 to 2011/12, although another of his compatriots, Papa Abdoulaye Mbaye, is an important member of the reserve team and has made four appearances for the first team. And then there is also Mamadou Samb, who even made one Euroleague appearance in 2008/09 against Zalgiris.

Rising to the occasion

Diagne is a young but highly promising player who tends to produce his best play when he faces difficult opponents. Two of his finest displays in last season’s Liga Endesa were precisely against Real Madrid (Game 6; 23 minutes; 11 points; 11 rebounds) and against FC Barcelona (Game 8; 27 minutes; 11 points).
