Lokomotiv Kuban v FC Barcelona Lassa: Catalans miss out on Final Four (81-67)

Xavi Pascual’s side lose out in the best of five clash with the Russian side and thus fail to book their place in Berlin

FC Barcelona Lassa lost out on a place in the Euroleague Final Four in Berlin after an 81-67 defeat to Lokomotiv Kuban in the last of the best of five tie.

The Catalans had an excellent third period but it was not enough to turn the match around and ended up losing the decisive game.

Beginning the match strongly was Lokomotiv’s Randolph who helped his side to an early 10-2 lead after just three minutes. Barça continued to trail but managed to get within five points of their opponents at the end of the first quarter.

Broekhoff and Delaney were clinical from the three point line for the home side at the start of the second, and more Randolph magic meant that Lokomotiv went into the break eleven points clear of a Barça team that looked short of ideas.

However, a seemingly different side emerged after the interval, as the Catalans stormed into gear. Two trebles a piece for Navarro and Perperoglou, as well as one more for Satoransky helped Barça to a 23-8 lead in the third quarter, to reverse the game 62-57 ahead.

But just when it seemed as though Barça were heading to the Final Four, the team from Krasnodar stepped up the pace. Singleton got things going with 12 consecutive points before Janning hit two trebles and a basket to put Lokomotiv on the road to victory. A treble from Delaney sealed an 81-67 win for the home side, denying the Catalans a place in Berlin.
