Following FC Barcelona Lassa's league opener at the Palau Blaugrana, which they won by a score of 84-76 over Zaragoza, star of the game Ante Tomic was named the ACB Player of the Week. The Croatian center was a huge presence around the basket while leading Barça to victory. Tomic scored a game-high 23 points while pulling down a half a dozen rebounds. He shot a staggering 91% from the field on 10 of 11 shooting, went 3 for 6 from the free throw line and forced seven fouls in 28 minutes.

After the match, Tomic talked about his performance in an interview with Barça TV.

"It was a good game, but the most important thing is that the team played well. It took a little bit, and we have to improve," he admitted.

This is not the first time Tomic has won the award. He took home Player of the Week honors last season in week 8 after Barça's win at Fuenlabrada. Tomic was also nominated for ACB Player of the Month in January of the 2012/13 season, though he didn't win it.

Ever since joining the team in 2012, the Croatian big man has become a leader whose best numbers have come not in the ACB, but in the Euroleague. Since signing with Barça, Tomic has won the Euroleague Player of the Week award seven times and has been named Euroleague Player of the Month twice, in February and March of the 2013/14 season.
