FC Barcelona Lassa in eleventh consecutive semi-final of Liga Endesa

Team equals own record and awaits Tuesday’s outcome of series between Laboral Kutxa Baskonia and Herbalife Gran Canària (1-1) to find out who they are meeting next

Barça Lassa are through to the semi-finals of the Liga Endesa for the eleventh time in a row, thus equalling their own record set from 1992/93 to 2003/04. Since that run was interrupted in 2005 (when they crashed out to Adecco Estudiantes in the quarters), the Catalans have made it as far as the last four every single season. In all 33 editions of the competition, they have only ever missed out on the semis twice, the only other occasion coming in 1991/92, when they lost in the quarter finals to Real Madrid.

Xavi Pascual has never failed to take the team as far as the final four at least, and is 18-1 in quarter final matches. The challenge now is to make it into the Liga Endesa final for an astonishing tenth time in a row. Barça have not lost a semi-final since 2006, when they were put out by TAU Cerámica, or Laboral Kutxa Baskonia as they are called now, one of the potential opponents this time round (the other being their quarter final opponents Herbalife Gran Canària). Those two meet in the third and final game of the series on Tuesday evening at 8.30pm CET.
