Pau Ribas made his debut for Barça Lassa / FCBQ

FC Barcelona Lassa basketball team are into Saturday’s final of the Catalan League after a tougher than expected semi final win over ICL Manresa. A fantastic fourth quarter performance and 16 points from Abrines were the keys to the win and the chance to claim the title against Morabanc Andorra who beat Joventut de Badalona in the other semi final. Barça saw Pau Ribas and Stratos Perperoglou make their debuts as blaugranes.

The game began with Abrines scoring three from three from triples, helping Xavi Pascual’s team to a 25-17 lead at the end of the first quarter. Manresa fought back at the start of the second period, scoring nine unanswered points to take a 26-25 lead. Vezenkov ended that drought with a three pointer and Barça went in at half time with a 42-37 advantage.

Tiredness became a factor in the third quarter; Barça’s game lost a bit of its spark. The result was fightback from Manresa who took the lead at the end of the third quarter, 54-51. Nevertheless, the blaugranes rallied, outscoring their opponents 15-1 to take a 60-54. Intense defence allowed Barça to maintain their lead until the end and take a 78-65 win to book a final showdown with Morabanc Andorra on Saturday.
