Carlos Arroyo is now an official part of FC Barcelona Lassa. In the company of basketball technical secretary Joan Creus the Puerto Rican guard celebrated his 36th birthday in the best possible way by signing a one-year contract with the team.

As he familiarised himself with his new surroundings, he also gave an interview to Barça TV. “It is a great honour for me to wear these colours” he said. “I have wanted to come here for many years. It is a blessing to come to Barça ... We have a lot of new players this season. We have to be patient, to create chemistry. We have a coach who understands the game well and I hope I am able to adapt quickly.”

This morning he took and passed the routine medical test, and while he was there he got the chance to meet Juan Carlos Navarro, who is still receiving treatment on an injury.

After two seasons starring at Galatasaray in Turkey, Arroyo is clearly thrilled to be here. He didn’t stop taking pictures all day and even made up a point of stopping by the club store to get his hands on some goodies. He also revealed that he wants to wear the number 30 because that’s the day he was born and one he has worn at other clubs too.
