'Strange to be back' says Víctor Sada

The guard will be back at the Palau Blaugrana wearing the colours of MoraBanc Andorra on Saturday at 6.00pm CET. We speak to him about what it means

[[DES_1]]The regular season ends this weekend with FC Barcelona entertaining MoraBanc Andorra at Palau Blaugrana at 6.00pm CET on Sunday. It’ll be a special day for Víctor Sada, who spent nine seasons at Barça but is now playing for the visiting side, and www.fcbarcelona.com spoke to him about his thoughts before the game.

When you left, you said you’d tremble on the day you returned to the Palau. So how do you feel right now?

“When the fixtures came out, the first thing I looked for was the game at the Palau. It’s been a long time since I said that and I’ve slowly been getting used to not being a Barça player. I honestly don’t know what it’ll be like. It’ll be strange because this was my home for so long and I’ll be meeting a lot of old friends. I’m already a bit nervous about it all”.

You’ve played Barça twice this season, but not at the Palau. What’s it like to play against them?

“It was strange but you just try to do your best. They’re a tough opponent, very hard to play against. When they came to Andorra I had a back injury and couldn’t play. But at La Seu d’Urgell in the Catalan league I was able to chat to old team-mates and it was a different experience. It will definitely be a hard game, Barça are a very big club with some great players”.

What’s your fondest memory of the Palau Blaugrana?

“I’d say the last game, when we played Madrid at home in game four. There were some great times, with league titles, fifth matches, warm moments, but I think I’d say the last league final when I came on for the last five minutes”.

“I still try to do everything I can to help my team”

You did play as a visitor to the Palau when you were at Akasvayu...

“I was very young and had been at Barça for three years. I tried to show that I was good enough for Barça and did all I could. This time I’ll just try to enjoy the moment, the fans, the friends I left behind, and make the most of being back in the Palau for three or four hours. It’ll be like seeing it from the other side”.

How has Víctor Sada changed eleven years after debuting for Svetislav Pesic?

“I still try to do everything I can to help my team. I have the same passion for basketball, but with more years of experience behind me”.

Would you like to work for Barça in the future?

“Yes, of course. I am a Barça fan and want the best for Barça. But I haven’t made any plans for after my playing career, let’s see what happens. But I know Barça right through because I was in the academy, and have worked for some great youth and first team coaches. I have a lot of experience and that could be useful in the future to help a big club like Barça”.
