Marcelinho Huertas celebrates 400 games in Liga Endesa

If he plays against Malaga, the Brazilian will complete his fourth century of matches, 166 of which were at FC Barcelona

Marcelinho Huertas will make his 400th league appearance on Sunday if he comes on against Malaga. The player started out at Joventut Badalona from 2004 to 2007, playing 121 games in the ACB, then played a further 36 for Bilbao, and after a year in Italy returned in 2009 to play 76 matches for Baskonia. In 2011, he arrived at Barça, where he’s added another 166 games to his record.

“It is a privilege to play 400 games” he says. “It has all happened so fast and I am so happy to have made ACB history with all these different clubs. They were nice years with lot of titles won … It is all thanks to the hard work I have done, the coaches that have entrusted me and the players I have played alongside throughout my career”.

The 32 year old looked back on his time, saying “I had some great seasons at Joventut, but I was still young. I grew as a player at Bilbao and enjoyed showing people what I could do. Italy was the start of a new cycle and at Baskonia we beat Barça to win the league in 2010, something we never thought we’d be able to do.”

He scored a famous 3-pointer in the 2012 final, and remembers “it was a miracle and it was worth a league title. I like rights ends to games, I have a lot of self-confidence and never shy out of things.”
