FC Barcelona v La Bruixa d’Or Manresa: Crushing superiority (101-53)

Barça have beaten fellow Catalan side Manresa by an astonishing 48 points. Hezonja (24) led the scoring

The Palau Blaugrana witnessed a lop-sided display as Barça won by 48 points and topped the 100 mark against Manresa as they prepare for Thursday’s European trip to Real Madrid.

Flying start

Playing just 36 hours after facing Zalgiris in the Euroleague made no difference. Barça went 10-0 from the start, controlling the attack and solid in defence, with Manresa making mistakes that helped all the more. The first period ended 26-4 without the visitors scoring once from open play.

New Zealander Fotu was the only Manresa man to score by means of anything other than a free throw in the whole first half, a period in which Barça only lost two balls.  Tomic, MVP in the Euroleague this week, continued his stunning form, Jackson was fully effective, Thomas fought for every ball like it was his last and an outstanding Doellman had the game decided before the break.

All decided

The second half began with the score at 53-13 but Barça refused to ease up and an 11-0 streak took the score to an almost embarrassing 64-13 with Hezonja’s 3-pointers contributing big. Manresa did start scoring, but that seemed only to spur even greater things in the Barça ranks. Every player apart from Hakanson had scored by the time the third period ended at 78-31. La Bruixa d’Or did then get an 0-11 streak to add some respectability to the scoreline, but it all ended 101-53 to leave FCB 13-6 in the league, with Hezonja leading the way with 24 points.
