FC Barcelona won their thousandth ACB game this lunchtime with a convincing 90-70 win over one of the league’s surprise packages this season, UCAM Murcia. Despite the absences of the injured Navarro and Bamforth, Barça were never in any danger and easily ran up their eighth straight win at the Palau.

Early resistance

Barça tried to play a pacey game, but Murcia were imposing their slower rhythm on the match and held the hosts to a 4 point lead at the end of the first quarter (17-14), However, Tomic and Abrines each scored eight points in the second quarter and a last gasp three pointer sent  Barça in comfortably in front 42-28.

15-0 flurry seals win

A whirlwind 15 points at the start of the third quarter from Barça with no reply from the visitors effectively sealed the result and three pointers from Oleson, Abrines and Nachbar gave them a massive 74-lead before the team took their foot off the gas. Ludde Hakanson came on late on and scored his debut ACB basket as the fans celebrated win number 1,000.
