FC Barcelona shot down by a barrage of threes, 103-94

Xavi Pascual's hoopsters fall to their sixth league defeat on a day the defence struggles

FC Barcelona suffered their sixth ACB defeat in Vitoria, falling to Laboral Kutxa by a final score of 103-94 in a game the Basques led rom start to finish. The Barça defence conceded 11 three-pointers, never giving the offense a chance to catch up.

Playing catch up

The game opened with five points from James, followed by four from Marcelinho Huertas. For Barca it was Doellman who carried them at the start. Both teams struggled on defence, leading to a 25-22 game after just ten minutes.

Barça struggled more in the second quarter, especially on the defensive boards and with turnovers. Tomic was on the bench with three fouls before halftime as Barça hit the intermission down 48–38.

Signs of life

Labour Kutxa kept things under control as the second half got underway, thanks to the shooting of San Emeterio. Barça finally responded near the end of the third quarter as Jackson and Lampe led them on an 8–0 run to bring Barça within 5 at 70-65.

But that's where the comeback stalled as Laboral rained down a barrage of long-range shots. And when they got to the free throw line, they couldn’t miss. Laboral were 24 of 27 on the day from the foul line. Barça came within six points more than once but couldn't get the key baskets when they most needed them.
