FC Barcelona's winning streak ends in 85-74 loss to Sevilla

A lethargic Barça are ice cold from the field and play from behind all day

FC Barcelona was cold down south in their league match, losing handily at Sevilla by a final score of 85-74. This Barça's second league defeat this season after a run of seven straight wins.

Xavi Pascual 's men were tired after playing in Poland just 36 hours earlier. An intense Sevilla defence thwarted Barça on attack and ran roughshod over the Catalans on offense. Sevilla went out to a 16-8 lead just 6 minutes in and it only got bigger as the minutes ticked by.

In the second quarter Brad Oleson injured his ankle and had come out. Barca were still alive though, thanks to the  Marcelinho (17 points) and Ante Tomic (16 points). However, they were soft on the boards as Willy Hernangómez was heating up. Barça managed to knot the game at 36 after 18 minutes thanks to solid defence, but it did not last long.

Sevilla take over

A 43-36 halftime deficit got worse as Sevilla ran their lead to 12 at 61-49 after 27 minutes. Barça didn't shoot well enough and were still down nine after three quarters.

The fourth quarter proved no better in spite of the efforts of Marcelinho and Tomic. They were unable to cut into Sevilla's lead, with DeShaun Thomas and Abrines ice cold from beyond the arc. The loss puts Barça in third place with Unicaja Malaga still to play Monday at UCAM Murcia.
