FC Barcelona – Galatasaray: Three pointers to victory (82-70)

The blaugranes recorded their fourth win in the top 16 thanks to 16 three pointers and a great performance from Satoransky

The Barça basketball team have once again claimed victory in the Palau Blaugrana in the Top 16 of the Euroleague. The win is their fourth in this stage of the competition and brings them closer to the next phase of the tournament. Xavi Pascual’s team earned their success thanks to an excellent first half performance and a steady second. The blaugranes overcame Galatasaray by 80-72 in large part thanks to their ability from the three point line. The blaugranes scored 16 of 32 three pointers with Satoranksy and Tomic in particular impressing.

The first quarter began well for the blaugranes with Doellman taking charge. However, the Turkish side, led by the impressive rebounding of Young, kept Barça in check with some tough defence. In the second quarter Nachbar scored two almost consecutive three pointers before Galatasaray replied to keep themselves in the game. It was then that the key men appeared such as the returning Juan Carlos Navarro. Barça established an 11 point lead at 47-36 with 17 minutes played. The blaugranes were able to stretch their lead at half time to an impressive 52-39 against their Turkish opponents.

The scoring in the second half dropped its frenetic pace and the visitors managed to pull back the deficit to less than ten points. At the beginning of the final period the result began to look in question as Galatasaray came to within four points of the blaugranes at 66-62. Nevertheless, it was Satoransky who steadied the ship and guided Xavi Pascual’s side to their fourth victory in this season’s Euroleague.
