Bostjan Nachbar is now an official player at FC Barcelona, the third signing of the summer. On his first day at the club the Slovene forwardhad no problems passing his medical in the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, and in the afternoon signed a contract for one season with Barça, with the option of a second. Afterwards he said “I’m very happy to arrive at Barcelona. I chose Barça because I’ve always dreamed of playing for one of the biggest clubs, and Barça is one of those”.

Slovenian connections

He also confirmed that he has had the chance to talk to Erazem Lorbek, his compatriot and now team-mate too. “Lorbek is a great player and a great person. We are friends and I am sure he will help me to adapt quickly to the group dynamic … it will be very special to share a club for the first time.” He added that he also received “great references of this club” from Jaka Lakovic, the former Barça who plays in the same national team as Nachbar.

Scoring from a distance

The 33 year old Slovenian is 2.06 m tall and arrives from Brose Baskets in Germany, where he averaged 16.1 points in last season’s Euroleague. Nachbar enjoys open play and is renowned for his long shooting. Asked to describe himself as a player, he said “I’m a player who plays with passion and who loves basketball, and I love showing that on court.” He added that “I can play in different positions depending on what the team needs
