Joey Dorsey was presented as a new FC Barcelona player on Monday afternoon. The 30-year-old pivot from the USA is one of five new additions this season and made it clear how keen he was to come to FCB.

I’m very happy to be back here in the ACB, and in the Euroleague too. I want to do all I can for the team in both defence and offence” he said. “I’ll give it 100% and I also want to learn … My main contributions to the team will be in defence and rebounds”.

Intimidating presence

The 202 cm and 128 kg player won the 2012 Euroleague with Olympiakos, and was described by technical secretary Joan Creus as “a player who will provide intense play, and athletic capacity. He has two fundamental characteristics: defensive and offensive rebounds. Another of his virtues is his intimidating presence … We think he’ll strengthen our interior play, an area we were perhaps lacking last season. He’s not a big scorer, but he has made great progress over the last year”.

Dorsey has already played with several of his new team-mates, and is a big admirer of JC Navarro. “I’m looking forward to playing with him and especially playing the pick ‘n roll with him. I got to know him when I was at Memphis playing college basketball” said the man who’ll be wearing number 6 in the 2013/14 season.
