FC Barcelona get difficult Euroleague draw

In the first stage of Europe’s premier club basketball competition, FCB will be facing CSKA Moscow, Fenerbahçe, Budivelnik Kiev, Partizan Belgrade and Nanterre The Final Four 2014 will be played in Milan, as announced by Euroleague CEO Jordi Bertomeu

FC Barcelona have found out who they will be playing in their six-team first round group in next season’s Euroleague. They will be playing home and away against CSKA Moscow (Russia), Fenerbahçe (Turkey), Budivelnik Kiev (Ukraine), Partizan (Serbia) and Nanterre (France) in Group A. Not only are there some tricky opponents ahead, but also some long journeys to Eastern Europe.

There are four domestic champions in Barça’s group: CSKA, Kiev, Partizan and Nanterre. The only side that is not, Turkish outfit Fenerbahçe, has just contracted the services of eight-time Euroleague winner Zeljko Obradovic.

Jordi Bertomeu also announced today that the Euroleague Final Four 2013/14 will be played in the Italian city of Milan on May 15 to 18, 2014.

The complete groups are as follows:

-Group A: FC Barcelona, CSKA Moscow (RUS), Fenerbahçe Ulker (TUR), Budivelnik Kiev (UKR), Partizan Belgrade (SRB) and Nanterre (FRA)

-Group B: Real Madrid, Anadolu Efes (TUR), Zalgiris Kaunas (LIT), Brose Baskets (GER), Emporio Armani Miln (ITA) and Strasbourg (FRA)

-Group C: Olympiacos (GRE), Montepaschi Siena (ITA), Unicaja Malaga (ESP), Galatasaray (TUR), Stelmet Zielona (POL) and Bayern Munich (GER)

-Group D: Panathinaikos (GRE), Maccabi Tel Aviv (ISR), Laboral Kutxa, Lokomotiv Kuban (RUS), Red Star (SRB) and one qualifier
