Ante Tomic has described signing for Barça Regal as a step forward in his career. “It is a chance to show what I can do. I think the Barça Regal style means I’ll be able to play my game here. At Madrid there was something else I’d rather not comment on. It’s a type of play that doesn’t value tall players much, only short ones, and although I did things there, it wasn’t enough”, he told Barça TV and fcbarcelona.cat.

The Croatian centre took a series of medical tests on Thursday at Barcelona Hospital and then at the Medical Centre at the Ciutat Esportiva. Once it’s confirmed that he has passed, he will be officially presented as a Barça Regal player.

Liga ACB the priority

Tomic is coming to Barcelona with a clear objective in his sights. “I want the ACB, more than the Euroleague”, he said. He admitted that he doesn’t know any of the members of his new team, apart from Marcelinho Huertas, but does know “they’re good people and good players”.

The Croatian also confessed that he still has a lot to improve about his game and hopes the Palau Blaugrana will give him a good reception despite his recent history with the all-whites of Madrid.
