Juan Carlos Navarro has made yet more FC Barcelona basketball history. He got 28 points in Barça Regal’s win over CAI Zaragoza to take his career ACB total up to 7,035. The record for a Barça player until now had belonged to Juan Antonio San Epifanio 'Epi', was scored 7,029 points from the creation of the Liga ACB (the points he got in the precursor, the Liga Nacional, weren’t counted).

Juan Carlos Navarro has thus once again rewritten the Barça basketball record books. The man with the most titles in club history has also set a scoring tally that is unlikely to be beaten for a very long time indeed. Because there are plenty more seasons of basketball left in a player that already has a contract with the club until 2015.

“Beating a legend like Epi is wonderful”, said Juan Carlos Navarro, who admitted that he had no idea that he was about to beat the record. “Sometimes when you think about things like these, you don’t achieve them, even when I knew it was so close and that I could do it this season … With the help of my team mates and the Palau, I know I have done something else important for the Club, which is my home. I hope to carry on getting more points for Barça and to stay here for many more years.”
