Jawai, Abrines and Todorovic, ready to make their debuts in the Final Four of the Euroleague

They are the only Barça Regal players who have yet to feature in the final round of the European competition

“We’re 19, 20 and 10 years old,” said Jawai jokingly before he posed for a photo with team-mates Abrines and Todorovic. The trio are the only Barça Regal players who have yet to feature in the Euroleague’s Final Four. Getting to the final round of the competition is a truly difficult feat to achieve, as Barça Regal’s history shows: the Blaugrana have reached the final stage of the competition 13 times in 25 years ... and Barça are the team with the most Final Four berths.

“I’m very pleased that I can play in the Final Four. It’s the most I could ask for and those of us who get the chance to play will give it our all. We’re capable of winning the whole thing,” said the 19-year-old Álex Abrines. The Mallorca-born player, who arrived to Barça last summer from Málaga, is clear who Barça Regal need to keep tabs on in the semi-final on Friday: “Rudy Fernández. He’s a great player. He’s unpredictable, he can defend, he’s able to shoot on the run and after he’s been blocked ... he can do everything,” warned Abrines.

“We can’t cry about the injured players”

“Being able to play the Final Four is special. It’s very difficult to play on this team, but if Nate [Jawai] can’t play in the end, I’m ready to play. We have to put in an extra effort and when we get our chance to play, we need to take advantage of it,” said the 21-year-old Marko Todorovic.

“We can’t cry about the injured players. We’ll go with the players we have, even though it would be easier if all of the players were healthy. All of us are good enough to play and we have to step up and do a good job. Everyone needs to give a bit more in the Final Four,” said Todorovic, who despite having an injured index finger, scored 12 points and snagged 12 rebounds in Barça’s last Liga Endesa match.

Jawai laments his injury

Nathan Jawai, who is 26 years old, could feature for the first time in the Final Four on Friday if he recovers from his injury. “It’s painful to pick up an injury, but this is the Final Four and I’ve been working all season for this moment,” said Jawai.

The three Barça Regal debutants, along with the rest of the team, have been preparing for the Final Four and this Friday, Real Madrid will test them.
