Xavi Pascual has been saying for some time now that his players need a bit of time to reach their full potential. This Sunday, after Barça Regal notched up its sixth consecutive victory at the Palau, the Blaugrana manager declared that his men “are on the path of constant growth.” In fact, Barça Regal have put in record-breaking performances in their last two matches, making them virtually unstoppable this week in the Liga Endesa and the Euroleague.

Exhibition away from the Palau against one of Europe’s favourites

This Thursday Barça Regal beat CSKA Moscow by the largest margin ever (60-81) in the 20 matches played between the two sides, breaking the previous record of +19 points from the match played in 1986 (100-81). It was the biggest defeat ever by the Russian team at home in the Euroleague. In addition, the Blaugrana kept one of the strongest team’s in Europe to only 60 points, the second lowest scoring mark ever by CSKA in European play.

Decisive victory at the Palau

This Sunday it was Assignia Manresa that fell prey to Xavi Pascual’s men. The 42-point difference between the two sides is the largest margin of victory this season in the Liga Endesa (89-47), the third largest for the Blaugrana in the last five years - in the 2009/10 season they beat Gran Canaria by 50 and in 2010/11 they beat Estudiantes by 46. Every Barça Regal player scored against Manresa and the team’s collective overall evaluation was 123, much higher than their opponents’ 23.

The team’s stats from the last two matches are simply spectacular: 85 points per match, 53.5 points conceded; 60.75% two-point shot accuracy; 38.46% three-point shot accuracy; 64.44% free throw accuracy; 41 rebounds per match; 17 assists per match; 9.5 forced turnovers, and 10.5 turnovers.
