Barça Regal set out to accomplish two goals during the game against Olimpija in tonight’s Euroleague match. They accomplished the first goal with ease, which was beating Olimpija. The second, came halfway through the third quarter when Navarro became the all-time highest point scorer of the Euroleague. Juan Carlos Navarro only needed 14 points to break the record set by Marcus Brown. . . and that’s precisely the number of points he scored. Navarro is a living legend and Barça Regal is a winning machine: Barça has won all six of its Euroleague games and have mathematically secured a spot in the Top-16. In short, it was a fantastic night at the Palau.

9-0 at the start

Barça Regal got off to a good start and went on a nine point run against Olimpija. Perovic, who was intimidating in the paint, was the best home-side player during the beginning of the game. Navarro also had an inspired performance, he scored 7 of his 14 points in the first quarter.

Barça’s advantage over the visiting side grew in the second quarter. Mickeal, playing at his best level, did well to neutralize Markota, who was only able to shoot once in 20 minutes. Barça finished the quarter leading Olimpija 40-26.

Legendary Navarro

Barça soon had an advantage of 20 points over the visiting side early in the second half.  It was the perfect moment for Navarro to break Marcus Brown’s record, and on a quick counterattack, Huertas assisted the Barça point guard; Navarro made his shot to the ruckus applause of the Palau. With the record secured by Navarro, Barça Regal put the pedal to the metal and soared to a +31 lead just before the end of the third quarter.

Olimpija started to show signs of life at the end of the final quarter, but Barça, leading by 33, was simply out of reach. The fans in the Palau were enjoying the game and blocks from Sada, Vázquez and Rabaseda all but brought the house down. It was a memorable night, especially for Navarro, Barça Regal’s record man.
