Navarro, on the day he broke the Euroleague point record. PhOTO: ÀLEX CAPARRÓS-FCB.

Juan Carlos Navarro, captain of FC Barcelona Regal, will take on the challenge of adding another title to his already bulging trophy cabinet as he prepares to lead his team to another King’s Cup crown this Thursday. La Bomba already has a couple of records under his belt and he could add another glorious chapter to his fantastic career if Barça Regal manages to win its third consecutive King’s Cup title.

Navarro is active player with the most King’s Cup titles. He has five trophies: 2001, 2003, 2007, 2010 and 2011 and he could win his sixth this week and come within only four of the now retired Barça Real player, Juan Antonio San Epifanio ‘Epi.’ Epi is the player with the most Cup titles along with Clifford Luyk.

Out to catch Jofresa

Navarro’s numbers in the Cup go beyond just titles. The captain has played 28 games in the competition and he’s only one away from the ex-Azulgrana, Rafa Jofresa. Jofresa is the player with the most games in the Cup, with 29.

In terms of points, Navarro has scored 296. He’s only seven adrift of breaking into the all-time Top-5 scorers of the Cup. He has 45 triples, only four away from Alberto Herreros, the best three-point shooter in the history of the Cup. In free throws, he’s third with 83, only Jordi Villacampa (87) and Epi (93) have more.

Barça, a point-scoring machine in finals

Barça Regal currently holds two point scoring record in the King’s Cup. In the 1978/79 final, Barça beat Tempus after scoring the most point in the history of the competition (130-113). In the ACB era, which started in 1983, Barça is the only team that has scored more than 100 points in a final. It was in Tenerife against Ron Negrita Joventut (110-102).
