Real Madrid sealed their spot in the Liga Endesa final after they beat Caja Laboral (76-69) in the last match of semifinal playoffs. Real Madrid will go up against Barça Regal in the final after the Catalan side beat Valencia Basket at La Fonteta (73-77).

This season’s record

Two defeats and two victories. Barça Regal secured the top spot of the table in the penultimate match of the regular season when they beat Pablo Laso’s men by 86 to 83, but Barça lost to Madrid in the first half of the season (78-74) and in the final of the Copa del Rey played at the Palau Sant Jordi (74-91).

Grand finals

The champion of the basketball league has been decided since the 1983/84 season- the year the ACB took charge of the competition- with a playoff. Since then, FC Barcelona have played against Real Madrid nine times in the final series. Barça have won five times to Madrid’s four. The last time the two teams faced off in the final series of the Liga was in the 2006/07 season. Real Madrid won that playoff by 3-1.

Starting next week, Barça will have the chance to defend the title they won last year. If they win, it would be the Club’s 17th overall Liga title.
