Ante Tomic against Real Madrid in the Cup final / FCB

The Copa del Rey went to Madrid for the second consecutive season. Last season it was in Málaga, against Real Madrid, when a basket from Sergio Llull in the last seconds gave Pablo Laso’s team the win, this season the scenario was repeated only this time in the Canary Islands. The final stages of the 2015 Copa del Rey were held in Las Palmas in Gran Canaria. Xavi Pascual’s side played well in the competition, their form improving as it went along. They put first Valencia (85-80) and then Unicaja (87-79) to the sword with Mario Hezonja and Deshaun Thomas in fine form.

Tomic unable to overcome his former team

In the final, despite dominating the first quarter 21-18 and then claiming a seven point advantage in the second (42-35), they were undone by a Rudy Fernández inspired Real Madrid. Nine unanswered points began the fightback and Pablo Laso’s side claimed the trophy with a 77-71 win. Barça’s Ante Tomic was the real MVP though, scoring 25 points and claiming 11 rebounds for a top rating of 40, despite being on the losing side against his former club.
