Barça Regal’s third place finish in the Euroleague didn’t do justice to the season the team had in the competition. Xavi Pascual’s men came into the Final Four after eliminating Unics Kazan and only losing a single match out of 19 played in the group phase, the Top 16 and the playoffs. Barça’s only defeat came on Montepaschi Siena’s court (77-74).

A bad night in Istanbul

The second defeat of the season in the Euroleague was in the Final Four in Istanbul, in the semifinal, in a match that was only decided by four points (68-64). Olympiakos, a team that would go on to win the competition, sent Barça home. Navarro and Ndong’s injuries just before the match played a big part in Barça’s defeat. In the third-and-fourth place match, Barça beat Panathinaikos by 69 to 74.

Erazem Lorbek was named to the Euroleague’s all-star team, while Juan Carlos Navarro was named to the second all-star team.
