Sant Joan de les Abadesses hosted the 10th Trobada de Penyes d’Osona i Ripollès, which also served as a celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Penya Blaugrana Sant Joan de les Abadesses. The event was presided over by FC Barcelona Head of Social Area and Vice-President Jordi Cardoner i Casaus.
Town Hall reception
The celebrations began at the local Town Hall where Dr Cardoner and ex- Barça player and member of the Associació Barça Jugadors, Pere Valentí Mora were received.
They were met at the Town Hall by Josep Surinach, the president of the PB St. Joan de les Abadesses, Ramon Roqué, the local mayor, Jordi Caparrós, Councillor in charge of sports for the town and Xavier Canudas, President of the Federació de PB d’Osona i Ripollès, where commemorative gifts were interchanged.
Brief speeches from Josep Suriñach and Jordi Cardoner to about 40 people were followed by a lunch attended by more than 180 penya members.
Homage to Nicolau Casaus
La Penya Blaugrana Sant Joan de les Abadesses took the opportunity to pay homage to Nicolau Casaus by decorating the streets of the town with images of the ex-vicepresident.
More than 20 penyes from Osona and Ripollès attended the event, which closed with a further round of speeches by Jordi Cardoner, Pere Valentí Mora, Ramon Roqué, Xavier Canudas and Josep Suriñach.
