First official Supporters Club in Kenya

The Penya Barcelonista Mashariki was officially presented this Friday in Nairobi during an event that was attended by President Sandro Rosell

The first Kenyan supporters club was made official this Friday. The presentation ceremony of the Mashariki Supporters Club, which took place at the Westlands Capital Club (Nairobi), was attended by FC Barcelona President Sandro Rosell, Mashariki Supporters Club President Steven Othoro, social representatives and members of the local authorities. The presentation ceremony was sponsored by Qatar Airways, the Club’s global partner.

The creation of a supporters club in Kenya falls in line with the Club’s global strategy. Africa’s love of football, a continent that has produced such fine footballers like Alex Song, Seydou Keita and Samuel Eto’o, among many others, exemplifies the unity and diversity of the Club and the global spirit of the sport.

New official supporters clubs in Africa

FC Barcelona have nine official supporters clubs in Africa: Nigeria (Penya Barça de Lagos Club); South Africa (Mzansi Penya Barcelonista); Senegal (Penya Blaugrana de la Casamance); Gambia (Sambou’s Barça Fans Club); Tangier, Morocco (Penya Barcelonista de Tànger); Tetuan, Morocco (Penya Barca Tétouani); El Jadida, Morocco (Association Penya Mazagan FCB); Morocco (Penya Blaugrana Aït Nsar), and Casa Anfa, Morocco (Gent Blaugrana d’Anfa).
