FC Barcelona President Sandro Rosell attended the 50th anniversary of the Peña Barcelonista Castellón. The anniversary festivities also hosted the XV Meeting of the Peñas Barcelonistas of Castellón, which was organised by Peña Barcelonista Betxí. More than 500 Peñistas from 27 Supporters Clubs attended the event.

50 years since the founding of the Supporters Club of Castellón

Sandro Rosell, who was accomanied by Pau Vilanova, Director in Chief of Barça’s Social Commission, and Roberto Fernandez, ex-player and member of the Barça Players Association, were welcomed at the Town Hall of Castellón de Plana by Mayor Alfonso Bataller, and the President of the Supporters Club of Castellón, Vicente León, among others. There, the Club president awarded the silver insignia to the ten founders of the Supporters Club.

The event also served to host the XV Meeting of the Peñas Barcelonistas of Castellón, which was held in Betxí, and was led by ex-Barça player and local resident Robert Fernandez.

The retinue, led by President Rosell, signed the book of honour of Betxí’s Town Hall and then headed out to the headquarters of the Betxí Supporters Club for a meal with the more than 500 Peñistas from 27 Supporters Clubs.

Sandro Rosell: “I congratulate today’s organisers, you worked as a team”

During the event, President Rosell addressed the gathered Supporters Clubs members.  First, he congratulated the organisers “for the well organised event.” He added: “It’s evident that a lot of coordination went into this, you worked as a team.” Sandro Rosell also talked about the good work the FC Barcelona Foundation is doing during these times of economic crisis. Finally, the president announced that the team will bring in one or two more players, besides Neymar, during the summer transfer window ahead of next season.
