FC Barcelona will be meeting Norwegian club Avaldsnes IF in the round of 32 of the latest edition of the UEFA Women’s Champions League following Friday’s draw in Nyon.

The first leg will be away to last season’s Toppserien runners-up on October 4 or 5, and the return will be a week later in the Miniestadi.

From a picturesque town of just 3,000 people on the west coast of Norway, this is the second time that Avaldsnes have played in the competition, after going out to eventual winners Lyon in this same round last year.

They have already had to negotiate a qualifying group in the 2017/18 competition, completing a 100 per cent record against Spartak Subotica (Serbia), Breznica Pljevlja (Montenegro) and Kiryat Gat (Israel).

As well as Norwegian internationals, the team coached by Kent Michael Boe includes four Brazilians, three Australians and an American.

They are currently 15 games into their league season, and are five points adrift of leaders LSK Kvinner.
