The FC Barcelona women’s made it six points out of six in the league by collecting an impressive first win on home turf, 3-0 against Fundación Albacete with goals, all before the break, from Marta Torrejón, Andressa Alves and Mariona Caldentey.

Early set piece

The Catalans looked comfortable from the outset and didn’t take to capitalise on their dominance when Torrejón converted from a 4th minute corner – her third goal from a dead ball situation in just two games.

The one-way traffic continued, and shortly after hitting the post, Andressa netted from an angle to make it 2-0 after 26 minutes. And just before half-time, Caldentey capped a lovely solo run by making it three.

Unrewarded second half pressure

The second 45 minutes brought more of the same, but this time the chances went unconverted, while Ràfols had somewhat more work to do in the Barça goal..

Fran Sánchez sent on new signing Mapi León for her debut, among other changes, and the chances kept flowing, if not the goals.

The win leaves the women top of the league ahead of a tricky trip to Real Sociedad for game three on September 24.
