The FC Barcelona Women's Football team was paired with the Belarusian club FC Minsk in the 2016/17 UEFA Women's Champions League, as revealed in Thursday's draw at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.

Marta Torrejón, a 26-year-old defender for the Catalans, said there wasn't too much information out there on Minsk. "But," she said, "they played in the preliminary round and we can glean something about them from that."

The Barça Women, who went into the draw as a top seed, will play the return leg at home on 12 or 13 October.

"Playing the second match back home favours us," Marta said. "We hope the growth in fan support will help us."

The first leg will be played in Belarus the week before, on 5 or 6 October.

The trip to the Eastern European nation is no puddle jump, Marta noted.

"But last season's trip to Kazakhstan was even further," she said. "We'll rest during the flight and be motivated to play."

FC Barcelona have never been past the quarter-finals of the Champions League, having been knocked out twice before reaching the semis, including last season's heart-breaking defeat at the hands of Paris Sant-Germain.

"Our goal is similar to last year, which is to perform well," Marta said.
