Barça celebrate the second goal of the game by Bergara / VÍCTOR SALGADO - FCB

FC Barcelona Women’s first game of 2016 ended in a convincing 2-0 win over Oiartzun at Ciutat Esportiva on Sunday.

The early resolve of the visitors was breached on 22 minutes by Alexia, who planted the ball into the corner of the net from just inside the area.

Barça dominated the first-half and carried their good momentum into the second where they continued creating chances to score. Sandra Hernández went close only to be denied by goalkeeper Oihana, while Jenni Hermoso saw an effort crash against the post just before the hour mark.

In the following action however, the game was put to bed. Míriam’s corner kick from the left was served on a plate for Ane Bergara, who calmly slotted home to secure the win for Xavi Llorens’ side.

Barça now turn their attention to next week’s big match against Atletico Madrid who are third in the table with just two points less than the Catalans.
