The FC Barcelona Women's football had a dream.

Although their path to a fifth consecutive league title was difficult, — since Athletic Club controlled its own destiny — hope and faith never abandoned them.

On Sunday, though, that dream was dashed, as a lone goal from Esther handed Atlético Féminas a 1–0 victory of FC Barcelona at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.

With all the pressure on Barça, it was a 36th minute goal that did the damage. Xavi Llorens's girls had a series of chances thereafter, but were unable to break through.

Their best chance to draw level came in the 72nd minute, when Bárbara Latorre was unable to convert with only the goalkeeper to beat.

Despite snapping a ten-game winning streak, the Barça Women will have a chance to end the season on a high note when they begin play in the Copa de la Reina in the coming weeks.
