Goal 1-0 Alexia (11’).

The FC Barcelona women are still in contention for the league title after winning 1-0 against Real Sociedad on Sunday thanks to a fine goal from an Alexia Putellas free-kick after eleven minutes. The result leaves Barça one point behind leaders Athletic Bilbao with three games left to play.

The early goal was a fair reflection of events in the first half, in which Barça had all the chances and the visitors caused very little in the way of danger.

The relentless pressure continued after the break, with Jenni Hermoso hitting the post on the hour and Bárbara also having a couple of excellent chances. The Basques upped the physicality as the game drew to an end, but that did nothing to change the Catalan dominance, with Irene Del Río, Patri and Gemma Gili all having chances to extend the lead before the final whistle blew.
