The team celebrate a goal against Real Sociedad/ MIGUEL RUIZ-FCB

With rivals Atletico Madrid drawing in Bilbao, Barça took a giant step towards the league title with a 3-0 win over Real Sociedad on Sunday lunchtime that leaves them 11 points clear at the top of the table.

Early goal and a touch of class

An early goal from Mariona Caldentey after a botched back pass, gave Barça the lead, but they found it hard going against a competitive Basque side, who were denying them space and time in in midfield. However, a classy move involving Mariona Caldentey, Alexia Putellas and Sonia Bermúdez set up the second for Sonia just before the break.

When after 15 minutes of the second half Corredera set up Alexia Putellas for a simple tap in, the game was all but done and dusted, with only the paint on the crossbar denying Wily a fourth direct from a corner, as Barça ran out easy winners.
