FC Barcelona defeated Levante this afternoon thanks to a goal from Alexia. The 1-0 sees Xavi Llorens’ players 10-points clear at the top of the table. The two teams faced off at the Ciutat Esportiva for round 9 of the league, the fixture was rescheduled due to Barça’s Champions League match earlier this year.
Early goal
The home team took the lead after only four minutes. In the first real chance of the match, Alexis beat the keeper Paños after a fantastic cross from Marta Corredera. It looked as though the goal was going to destabilise Levante, but the visitors didn’t waver despite conceding early. Levante nearly scored the equaliser through Buceta, but Ràfols pulled out an amazing save and preserved Barça’s lead.
From that point on Barça controlled the match as the minutes ticket off the clock. The Catalans almost scored a second but Melani’s shot crashed against the woodwork.
The team will play their next match next weekend against Sporting Huelva.
