The Women’s A team confirmed their place in the Spanish Final later this month with a 5-1 aggregate win over Atletico Madrid. Despite conceding early on, the team kept their nerve and a goal from Sonia on the half hour and a late, late winner from Corredera gave them the win that will see them face Prainsa Zaragoza in the final.

Eraly strike

Three down from the first leg, the visitors had nothing to lose and came out with all guns blazing – pressing the Barça back line and denying them possession and control. When Rafols punched away a cross on 16 minutes, Amanda took the chance to fire home from the edge of the area.

Equaliser calms the nerves

The goal lifted the visitors, who upped their pressing, but Sonia calmed the team’s nerves on the half hour with a goal – rounding the Atletico keeper Lola in a one on one to slide home the equaliser.

Late goal confirms win

Atletico didn’t let the goal get to them though and continued to make life hard for Barça, with Nagore coming close early on in the second half – firing straight at the keeper when she was free in the box. Gradually though, Xavi Llorens’ team began to get on top, as the visitors saw their chances of a final place disappearing and Corredera’s late strike confirmed the win and Barça’s spot in the final next weekend.
