FC Barcelona’s Women’s team thumped Lagunak this Sunday afternoon by 6 to 1, taking the team’s unbeaten streak to seven games – six of which ended in victories for the Blaugrana. The women managed by Xavi Llorens have won their last four matches, and today it was Lagunak’s turn to fall to the Catalans. The Catalans were the superior side and goals from Olga -on three occasions- Sonia, Alexia and Alba deprived the Navarre team of the three points.

Comfortable first half

The game couldn’t have started off in better fashion for Barça’s Women’s team, who had a two-goal lead after only 10 minutes. The pressure from Barça’s forwards eased off after the first two goals which allowed Lagunak to pull within one of the Blaugrana. It was the Navarre side’s first goal of the Liga. Despite Lagunak’s goal, Barça continued to dominate the match and before the first 45 minutes were up Llorens’ players scored their third.

Incisive play and goalscoring chances

Barça started the second half with the clear intention of adding to their 3-1 advantage. It didn’t take long for Llorens’ players, through exquisite combination play, to score three additional goals. The scoreboard at the end of the match shows the difference between Barça and Lagunak, who sit at the bottom of the standings with no points.

With this victory, Barça’s Women’s team climb to the third spot of the Women’s Primera División with 19 points. Barça will travel to Transportes Alcaine next week with the intention of threatening Athletic Club’s position at the top of the table.
