In the 16th Liga Nacional fixture of the season Barça's U19B side suffered their second defeat of the league campaign. A goal from Nicolas Melamed proved to be the difference between the two teams and it gave RCD Espanyol a Barcelona derby win.The blaugranas’ attacking prowess wasn’t harnessed in a scrappy game.

Five points separate the two teams in the league table, this difference wasn’t evident on the pitch with the fact it was a derby serving to level the two teams as they played with real intensity. The U19B side controlled possession but were unable to carve out many clear-cut chances. The home side played defensively and they looked to cause harm on the counter.

This approach paid off as they took the lead in the 25th minute. The blaugranas had the second half to try and draw level but Denis Silva’s team were unable to turn the game around and they saw Espanyol close the gap on them in the league standings. The U19B side are still top of the table with a two-point lead over their city rivals.
