Douglas Pereira dos Santos


A Barça player since 2014, Douglas is an attacking full back with experience, having played more than 200 competitive games in Brazil before joining the blaugranes

The deal to bring Douglas Pereira dos Santos to FC Barcelona was announced on August 26 and he was officially unveiled as a Barça player at the Camp Nou three days later. Douglas came to Europe after six years playing in his native Brazil.

Douglas learnt his trade at his home town club of Goiás, where he played for three seasons for the first team after making his debut as an eighteen year old against Gremio. His performances caught the eye of some of the biggest Brazilian clubs and he was soon playing for Sao Paulo.

After three more years at Sao Paolo, Douglas signed for Barça, a youngster, but one with plenty of experience having played 212 times in Brazil. Typically Brazilian in his commitment to attack, Douglas is an incisivefull back, who always looks for the decisive cross or shot.

With Sao Paulo, Douglas won the South American Cup, and with the Brazilian U20 national side the 2009 South American Championships in Venezuela, though he has yet to be called up for the full Brazilian squad.

Douglas made his official debut for the Club on 25 September 2014 in La Liga against Málaga. The match ended in a draw (0-0). In total, The Brazilian wing-back played 273 minutes in the 2014/15 season, appearing in two league and three Copa del Rey games. The defender spent the 2016/17 season on loan at Sporting Gijón before spending the 2017/18 season on loan at Benfica.

Technical profile

Douglas Pereira is a pacey right back , able to cause danger in the opponents’ half. His physique means he’s able to get up and down the flanks quickly and has no problems racing back to cover in defence. Typically Brazilian in his commitment to attack, Douglas is always looking to build up front with incisive crosses or a shot at goal.
