Yerry Mina follows in the footsteps of some Barça greats

The arrival of Yerry Mina to the ranks of FC Barcelona means that eleven players have been on the books of both Barça and Palmeiras. With Mina yet to make his debut, some ten players have had minutes at both of the two clubs during their long histories so far. Of these players, only Keirrison and Henrique have moved directly between the two sides, and the latter joined the Brazilian club on loan from Barça.

Da Silva was the first player to experience life at both clubs. Others to follow in his footsteps have included Marinho, Bio, Cleo and Marcelo, and the most recent were Rivaldo, Deco and Edmílson. Rivaldo, meanwhile, made it to Barcelona via Deportivo La Coruña, who had brought him to Europe from Palmeiras, and became a club legend.

Edmílson, following a spell at Barça in which he lifted the Champions League trophy in 2006 and also won the LaLiga title, remained in Spain with Villarreal before heading to Brazil to join Palmeiras in 2009.

Deco, a special case

Whilst Deco was on the books at Palmeiras from 1992-1995, it was as part of the club's football sala team. It was there that he developed his skill in tight spaces that helped Barça to so much success during his time at the club, including the 2006 Champions League win in which he put in an excellent showing in the final in Paris.
