RIVAL WATCH: Wins for Deportivo La Coruña and all Barça’s main rivals in the title race

The Galicians warm up for their visit to Camp Nou next weekend in the league with an important 1-0 win over Leganés

The 2-0 victory at the Estadio de la Cerámica over Villarreal maintains Barça’s five point lead at the top of the table. Luis Suárez and Leo Messi’s second half goals gave Ernesto Valverde’s team all three points from a tough away trip and they can now begin to turn their attention their next fixture in La Liga.

Barça face Deportivo La Coruña next Sunday in the league and the Galicians warmed up for their trip to Camp Nou with a vital win at home to Leganés. A goal from Adrián López in the first half handed Cristóbal’s team all three points which puts them three points above the relegation zone in 17th place in the table.

Two goals from Cristiano Ronaldo helped Real Madrid to a 5-0 win over Sevilla in the Santiago Bernabéu to keep them in fourth place some eight points behind Barça. City rivals Atlético also recorded a victory, Saúl’s goal giving them all three points away at Betis. Diego Simeones’s side stay in third, two points ahead of Real and a point behind Marcelino’s Valencia who remain in second following a 2-1 home win over Celta; Dani Parejo’s penalty sealed the victory for los che with nine minutes of the game remaining.
