Recovery session with Atlético on the horizon

The available first team players started preparations for Sunday's trip to the Vicente Calderón in the league

FC Barcelona are facing an unusual next few days as they are without a midweek fixture for the first time in 2017. January and early February were dominated by a fixture list that saw Barça with two games a week thanks to the Copa del Rey run that has taken them to the final against Alavés on 27 May. However, following the win over Leganés on Sunday at Camp Nou, the blaugranes are without a match until the trip to the Vicente Calderón to take on Atlético Madrid on Sunday.

Monday’s training session at the Ciutat Esportiva was one of recovery for those first team players who featured in the 2-1 league win on Sunday. Nili, Kaptoum, Aleñá and Mujica from the B squad also took part under the watchful eye of coach Luis Enrique.

Barça have already won in the Calderón this years with their 2-1 win over Atlético just two weeks ago setting them on the road to a 3-2 semi-final aggregate victory over Diego Simeone’s team in the Copa del Rey. The squad will enjoy two days rest on Tuesday and Wednesday before returning to continue preparations for Sunday’s testing away fixture.
