Digne makes his FC Barcelona debut against Liverpool

The left back plays half an hour in the second half with Ter Stegen, Bravo, Piqué, Iniesta and Rakitic also debuting in preseason

One of FC Barcelona’s summer signings, Lucas Digne, has made his debut in the friendly against Liverpool. The Frenchman returned early from his holidays to team up with the squad and has made his first appearance in a Barça shirt in the side’s third game of preseason.

Digne appeared in the 60th minute of the encounter at Wembley Stadium, occupying the left back position after replacing Juan Cámara. The former PSG and Roma defender was not the only player who returned to training during the week to figure in the International Champions Cup. Marc-André ter Stegen and Claudio Bravo played 45 minutes each in goal with Gerard Piqué, Ivan Rakitic and Andrés Iniesta also made their pre-season debuts against Liverpool. Javier Mascherano and Sergio Busquets also featured again after having enjoyed minutes in the win over Leicester.

With Digne and Denis Suárez having now shown themselves in a Barça shirt, that just leaves Samuel Umtiti and André Gomes to make their blaugrana debuts. The Frenchman trained on Saturday whilst the Portuguese international is set to team up with the squad for the first time this coming Monday at the Ciutat Esportiva.
