FC Barcelona booked their spot in yet another Copa del Rey final on Tuesday night and club captain Andrés Iniesta, who returned to the fold after a lengthy injury, praised his teammates for the effort on a challenging day’s work.

“In the end I always say the same thing, it was a team effort,” said the ever-modest captain.

Alluding to the closing stages, which saw penalty calls, red cards and nail-biting drama, Iniesta said “the match had everything" and that "it looked as they everybody had gone crazy”.

Asked who he would prefer in the final between Celta Vigo and Alavés, Iniesta flatly said “the team that goes through,” and that Barça “will have to respect them as we have respected everybody”.

The team’s versatility was on show once again, which the veteran was keen to highlight:“We all try to be in good shape so that the manager can do his best for us. Each player offers his characteristics, but the best for the team”.

And underlining the most important point of all, Iniesta concluded by stating that “we are going for our third straight Copa success”.

“We’re deserved finalists, very deserved. It was a very tough job.”

“We suffered until the last minute. These types of games always make you suffer. It was a semi-final and we had to play it in the best way we could.”

“I am very happy to have played all of the Copa games.”

“It was a complicated match. We did a good job.”

“I am very happy that we got through.”
